The Luthier's Apron

After much hemming and hawing and doodling and dyeing, I've started work on the luthier's apron. This is half of a costume I'm making for the Advanced Felting course, and the character is from the fairy tale, the Two Sisters.

As seen above, the apron in a soft felt state. Ingredients include: cheesecloth, merino wool, icelandic wool, flax, silk, and natural dyes.

The luthier found the body of the drowned fair sister, and turned her bones into violin.

The luthier becomes a sort of shaman figure, magically transforming the bones into an instrument that would eventually bring the poor girl's murderous sister to justice.
I wanted to meld the luthier/shaman/instrument aspects into one shape-shifting character. His apron is organic and plant like, but with the trappings of a craftsman's work apron.

Wait until you see his mask...

The apron (dry) in a nearly-complete state. I still have to puff out the little pockets, add straps and ties, and put a few final touches.
